We’re a couple of weeks into the new year, and I have already had several moments of immense gratitude. As I reflect on 2017, I have a lot of reasons to be thankful. If I had tried to envision the beginning of 2018, I wouldn’t have pictured the amazing things that are happening in our lives now.
I got married last year, and we’re growing closer to God and closer to each other. We are part of church home that is healthy and growing that gives us opportunities to serve and flourish, and some of our closest friends have joined us on that journey too. We both have started jobs that placed us squarely in our career paths, where we can make a difference in the lives of others each in our own way. Michael is an accountant at a CPA firm, and I’m an admissions rep at Tulane, which already feels like home to me because it was my school before it was my workplace.
We’ve seen God’s provision – financially, physically, spiritually, and we have been blessed with God’s favor in spite of our imperfections. We have experienced a peace that doesn’t waver based on our circumstances, and that has changed the way we live and communicate with each other, our friends and family, and others.
Last year was the best year of my life, but let me be very clear: every good thing in 2017 came from God. We sought after Him, and He showed himself in our lives and renewed our spirits. There were times that were so tough, but we were constantly reminded of God’s love and faithfulness.
The Lord exceeded all of our expectations last year, and I know that He’s going to do it again.
