Bible Verses

I spend a lot of time writing and memorizing Bible verses because they are tools that I use to fight the enemy. Whether we’re struggling with rejection or pride or anger, there are verses in the Bible to help us navigate those thoughts.

Here’s a working list of some that I reflect on regularly:

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. – Philippians 2:3

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. – Hebrews 13:5

Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end. – Proverbs 29:11

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,  made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,  in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Ephesians 2:4-10

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. – Psalm 145:8-9

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.  Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. – Psalm 139:13-16

If God is for us, who can be against us? – Romans 8:31

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! – 2 Corinthians 5:17

He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. – Psalm 103: 10

As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. – Psalm 103:12

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:9

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and will flee from you. – James 4:7

He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds. – Psalm 147: 3

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

He is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18-19

For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. – Matthew 6:14

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. 0 Isaiah 43:18-19

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. – Matthew 6:21

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” – Luke 12:15

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.  Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. – Luke 6:36-38

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. – Proverbs 16:9
